A revival of my pen and ink project that is well over 30 years old. First conceived as a darkly humorous illustrated book of understated murders in alphabetical order, it then went to being a series of prints, and then an idea for a mystery game, after which it morphed into a book of nonsense verse - none of these ideas worked in the end and were shelved.
I grew-up reading Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christi - and there's something about a well conceived and crafted murder mystery that just really cheers me up. I find it is best accompanied by a hot cup of Earl Gray Tea and a rainy night.
“Nobody’s ever been arrested for a murder; they have only ever been arrested for not planning it properly.”
― Terry Hayes, Author
Murder, however, is a serious undertaking and I soon discovered that personally approaching it in a very nonchalant, darkly humorous and understated way - just tickled my funny bone to no end.
ORIGIN STORY: Many decades ago - A few days after quitting smoking, I was sitting in my apartment and the people across the way were having a party - some partygoers had migrated out into the common area and were smoking cigarettes ... I wanted one so badly, you could say I would have killed to get my hands on a cigarette. It was then that I went to my drawing table and this series began ... with Cameron -
When I finished the drawing I no longer wanted a cigarette.
